Genealogy
...the study of family ancestries and histories.
Genealogy began its rise in popularity in the 1970’s and has grown steadily in the decades since. With the introduction of widely available consumer DNA testing, genealogy has become more compelling than ever. While genealogy is a steady growth industry, its thorough and complicated research requirements can be daunting for hobbyists of any qualification. The Alamogordo Public Library is a tremendous resource for serious and curious genealogists, alike.

Programs
The library manager, Sharon Rowe, a genealogy expert, facilitates a monthly genealogy workshop on an in-depth topic. Whether you attend a program or not, comprehensive handouts on each monthly topic are available to you. We encourage you to make use of these handouts in your own genealogy research.
